Rules for fighting in RPG

1) When fighting, the 'autohit' is not allowed. This is where the attacker makes a move, and in the same line also puts the effect of the attack. Eg. Blue_turbo slashes at Wolfpup and cuts her head off. This statement is an autohit, and as such Wolfpup reserves the right to ignore it.

2) Making an autohit is one of the trademarks of the newbie - a person new to RPG, and who has not yet learned the art of fighting. Many experienced fighters will call off a fight if they learn they are fighting a newbie.

3)To make a legal attack in fighting, you would write something like this: Blue_turbo slashes at Wolfpup. After sending this line, you then write in connects. The hit then counts, provided Wolfpup hasn't done something to counter the attack such as dodging or parrying. If each person says something that when put together as a whole makes no sense, such as

Blue_turbo slashes at wolfpup Wolfpup steps back and parries Blue_turbo connects, cutting Wolfpup's head off

Since Wolpup countered the attack before blue_turbo connected, the attack has been successfully parried, and the hit does not count.

Please note, it is very bad manners to keep "connects" in the clipboard and then just paste it in as you send the original attack. Although it is allowed within the rules, 'rapidhit' is in very bad taste, as it is impossible to counter. Fast, accurate typing is the accepted way to follow through with an attack.

4) When using magic in a fight, it is permissible to use an autohit, provided you know your opponent has no counter to the magic. If your opponent has any magical talents whatsoever then this form of attack is not allowed, as they may well have a counter to it.

5) To win a fight, it is not necessary to kill your opponent, although few people ever admit a fight is over until their character has been killed. If you are knocked unconscious in a fight, you must remain quiet until your character wakes up again. The length of time you remain unconscious is at your discretion, although when you wake up you have to let the room know you are waking up, eg. Blue_turbo opens his eyes and groans.

6) If you lose a fight and die, YOU MUST STAY DEAD! It is the worst sign of a newbie to resurrect yourself after being killed, either directly after a fight or at a later date, if anyone remembers your character was killed. If you are killed, you must immediately leave the room, exit yahoo, and if you wish to return, create a new character. The new character is then a different person, and no-one will visit upon you any grudges held against the old character.

7) During the course of a fight, you must not use magic to heal yourself in any way. After the fight, do as you wish, but during the fight, if you are injured, you must fight on with that injury. This applies to mutants, shapeshifters, wolves, vampires or any other kind of magic user. However, if another person uses their magic to heal you while you are fighting, this can allow you to be healed. This is because while fighting, supposedly all your attention is devoted to the fight, and your character will have no reserves left with which to heal himself/herself.

8) To kill your opponent, you must make contact with him/her at least five times. This applies no matter which part of the body is attacked. It could be you cut the throat of your opponent on your first attack, but he/he will not die immediately. If none of the attacks you have made are potentially fatal, your opponent is not obliged to die on the fifth attack. This merely means that on any further attacks, you have the ability to kill your opponent with one fatal blow.

9) Once you have lost the fight, and been dealt a possibly fatal blow, you may possibly be able to save yourself if your opponent stops attacking you, thus signalling the fight is over. You can then use magic to heal yourself, hopefully before you die. However, if you are unconscious, this option is not open to you.

10) Any number of people may fight against any number of opponants - one on one is not a prerequisite.

11) A person with no magic talent does not have the ability to break a magical sheild/force field/soulrift wind or any other kind of magical attack. It is therefore not a good idea to attack magic user alone if you have no magic of your own. Several people together can take on a mage without magic. The same goes for most magic users, as most magics can only apply to one person at a time. This does not go for all magic users.

12) It is very bad manners to pick a fight to the death with a child or baby animal unless you are also a child. Other RPGers may well attack you if you try this. Even simple sparring may well result in other people attacking you. Beware of the wolf clans, who will drop any wars between themselves to fight together to protect a wolfpup.

13) Immortals and Gods, while permitted under the rules, are considered in very bad taste, and are only ever played by newbies. Don't be an immortal. Everyone can die in a fight.

14) If you are challenged to a fight, you are not honour bound to retaliate, although someone who attacks you can kill you even if you are not fighting them. Once you accept the challenge, it is a sign of a newbie if you leave the room as a form of defence. However, some people have the talent of teleportation, or stepping between (dreamwalkers among them), and this form of defence is permitted. Once between, a dreamwalker is immune to attack, as she is within the ambient between the physical world and the dreamscape. Only another dreamwalker or a shadow-walker can follow her in there.

15) If you are new to fighting, try to find a sympathetic experienced person to spar with you, to teach you how. DO NOT just start and hope to pick it up as you go along. Once branded a newbie, it is hard to lose the label.
